Lesson #3 Fractions

Title of Lesson:  Lesson #3 Fractions
Subject: Math 
Grade Level: 2nd Grade

Overview & Purpose:
The purpose of this assignment is to learn what fraction is, how to use fractions while being creative.
 Objectives: (Specify skills/Information that will be learned)- Listening skills & cooperation skills
The objective is to learn fraction, by being creative while also understanding how fraction works.  
 Information: (Give and or demonstrate necessary information)- 1/2,  1,  or using pictures that symbols fraction.                                                                                             2 
 Materials:  Marbles, Bingo cards with fractions written on them, fraction cards/ or fraction written in small pieces of paper, hat or little bag.
Verification: (Steps to check for student understanding)
In order to check if students are understanding I will ask--Any Questions? Can someone tell me today's objectives.
step1: teach student what fraction is and how fraction works
step2 : Show examples
step 3:  make sure students are in track. By asking questions.
step4: practice
Step5: Present activity

Activity/Assessment: 
 This activity is call Fraction Bingo. Student will be given a card (sheet) full of fractions. In the middle of the card is a free space.  Once teacher hand the sheet full of fraction also known as the"Bingo Card" teacher must pull out a small piece of paper from a hat, or bag. Inside the paper is a fraction in which the teacher would call out. If the student has that fraction in there Bingo card they must put a marble in the slot in which the fraction is called. Student must have 5 in line before yelling "Fraction Bingo" in order to win.
Homework: 
Work on fraction practice sheets, as a way to make sure if students fully understand fractions rules.

Lesson #2 multiplying

Title of Lesson:  Learning how to Multiplying
Subject: Math 
Grade Level: 2nd Grade
Prepare by: Christina Galvez



Overview & Purpose:  The purpose of the activity to help student learn how to multiply two number together by making flash cards ( 1 to 5) and from (5 to 10.). As they process they would then learn how to multiply using  two different methods. 
1)   5                 2)  4 x1 =        3)  1x2 =       4)   2*6 =         5)    2(1) =
      x 2  

Objectives: (Specify skills/Information that will be learned)- Multiplication, and learning how to fill up the multiplication chart without using a calculator.

Activity/Assessment: 
The goal of this activity is to help there children learn how to multiply in a fast, easy and fun way. During this activity student will be given color construction paper, safety scissors  and a marker. With these materials student will be creative and make their very own Multiplication cards.


Homework: 
Once students have make there first set of multiplication flash card have the students present their flash cards  to 5 different friends and or family members.




Lesson #1 Money Value

Overview & Purpose:
The purpose of this assignment is to learn how to count money.
Objectives: (Specify skills/Information that will be learned)-  Money Value, Add, Subtract
Information: (Give and or demonstrate necessary information)- Knowing each coin value and bill value. Learning how to add and subtract.
Materials: money worksheet , safety scissors, money guide, math problems
Verification: (Steps to check for student understanding)
In order to check if students are understanding I will ask--Any Questions? Can someone tell me today's objectives.
Activity/Assessment: 
student will use there paper money to identity and answer each math problem they are given to solve. They must use cooperation skills, and team work to help solve each math problem.
     Step1: You will receive a sheet of paper. On the paper there is drawing of money bills and coins.
      Step 2: Grab a safety scissors and safely cut the money out. 
      Step3: Apply the cut bill / coin into a construction paper/craft paper. ( kids are allowed to be creative)
   Step 4:  When student are ready they will be given math problems, in which students must cooperate, and work as a team 
Homework: 
Worksheet. Identify with a smiley face or  a check mark if you have the correct value to buy each item. If you do not have enough mark a sad face/ "X".
* Worksheet such as Jump start use are a great resource for kids to learn how to count money.
